Job Descriptions
Paramedic / PHRN
A Paramedic or Prehospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) is a member of Patriot Emergency Response’s healthcare team responsible for providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) care to patients in the prehospital environment. This role requires advanced clinical judgment, leadership, and the ability to function effectively in high-stress situations.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Obtain vital signs and perform comprehensive patient assessments, including primary and secondary surveys
Provide ALS patient care in accordance with PA ALS scope of practice
Establish and manage airways, including advanced airway interventions
Initiate and maintain IV/IO access and administer medications within scope of practice
Perform cardiac monitoring, rhythm interpretation, cardioversion, defibrillation, and pacing
Provide bleeding control, resuscitation, and advanced life-saving interventions
Communicate effectively with medical command, receiving facilities, and other responders
Accurately document patient care and transport information in the electronic patient care record (ePCR)
Operate Agency vehicles safely and assist with patient movement and transport
Maintain readiness of vehicles, equipment, medications, and supplies
Participate in training, quality improvement, and other operational duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Current Pennsylvania Paramedic certification or PHRN authorization
Valid driver’s license
Current CPR/BLS/ACLS/PALS
Ability to meet physical and mental demands of the position
Pass a criminal background check (PATCH)
Pass FBI fingerprinting clearance & Child Abuse Clearance (CWIS)
Advanced EMT
An Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) is a member of Patriot Emergency Response’s healthcare team responsible for providing Intermediate Life Support (ILS) care in the prehospital setting, in accordance with Pennsylvania AEMT protocols and Agency procedures.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Obtain vital signs and perform comprehensive patient assessments, including primary and secondary surveys
Provide IALS patient care within the PA AEMT scope of practice
Perform airway management, including insertion of supragottic airways
Initiate and maintain IV/IO access and administer medications within scope of practice
Assist with cardiac monitoring and transmission of EKGs as appropriate
Provide bleeding control, CPR, and resuscitative care
Communicate effectively with medical command, receiving facilities, and other responders
Accurately document patient care and transport information in the electronic patient care record (ePCR)
Operate Agency vehicles safely and assist with patient movement and transport
Maintain readiness of vehicles, equipment, medications, and supplies
Participate in training, quality improvement, and other operational duties as assigned

EMT
An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a member of Patriot Emergency Response’s healthcare team responsible for providing Basic Life Support (BLS) care to patients in the prehospital environment in accordance with Pennsylvania BLS protocols and Agency procedures.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Obtain vital signs and perform patient assessments
Provide BLS patient care within the PA EMT scope of practice
Assist with airway management, ventilation, and oxygen therapy
Perform CPR, bleeding control, splinting, and patient packaging
Communicate effectively with medical command, receiving facilities, and other responders
Accurately document patient care and transport information in the electronic patient care record (ePCR)
Operate Agency vehicles safely and assist with patient movement and transport
Maintain readiness of vehicles, equipment, medications, and supplies
Participate in training, quality improvement, and other operational duties as assigned
